Pará's Lungless Salamander

Bolitoglossa paraensis  it is an Amazonian species. This salamander is only found in the eastern region of the Brazilian Amazon, in the State of Pará.

FUN FANCTS

Although Brazil has the greatest diversity of amphibians on the planet, there are only four species of salamanders in the country. 

The species of the genus  Bolitoglossa  do not have lungs. 100% of gas exchange in these species is done through the skin.

THREATS

Loss and reduction of habitat quality due to deforestation (legal and illegal).
